Panama Ready to Share Expertise on Special Economic Zones With Tamchy SFIT — Envoy

Minister of Justice of the Kyrgyz Republic and Chairman of the Tamchy SFIT Management Council, Ayaz Baetov, met on 1 September with Panama's Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the Organization of American States, Ana Irene Delgado.

The meeting took place against the backdrop of celebrations marking the 35th anniversary of the Kyrgyz Republic's independence and a series of major international events hosted by the country, including the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation Summit and the VI World Nomad Games.

The discussion covered international economic cooperation and investment, with particular attention to experience gained from establishing and developing special economic and financial zones around the world.

Baetov introduced the Panamanian diplomat to Tamchy SFIT, outlining its special legal and tax regime, institutional structure and approach to creating a modern environment for business and investment.

Panama's envoy toured Tamchy SFIT premises as part of the meeting's agenda. She viewed its operational infrastructure, including the modern Grade A business centre, as well as the facilities under construction: the international airport currently undergoing expansion, office and residential buildings, and resort complexes focused on medical and wellness tourism.

Following the tour, the envoy spoke highly of Tamchy SFIT's potential and expressed readiness to facilitate an exchange of experience with Kyrgyz partners.

"Panama is the logistics hub for Central and South America. We have had a law on free trade since the 1900s, so we really understand the importance of such projects logistically. You're in the center of Central Asia. That's the beauty of what you're doing here, which I completely understand, because it makes sense," Delgado said.
